Resolve every cell by its header name rather than by a position somebody remembered, read the row back out of the sheet because the trigger payload is only a snapshot, then write the corrected cells back in a single write into that same row. Precise, mechanical work against an API is where Codex is strongest, and this template is almost nothing else.
Run a staged conversation — no account needed. The agent handles it for real while a simulated world answers its tool calls; nothing touches real accounts, and nothing is actually sent.
Using this template drops you into a guided setup. It asks exactly this, nothing else:
Connect Google Sheets
One sign-in. The agent acts through your account, scoped to what this template uses.
Connect Slack

Row rules
What a complete, correct row looks like in this sheet - the columns that must never sit empty, how you want dates and phone numbers written, the exact labels each status column accepts, and which problems earn a Slack line instead of a quiet fix.
Runs on Codex
Preselected for this page — connect your Codex account during setup, or switch to NoClick's built-in models with one click.
Watch it handle a test run
A staged conversation against a simulated world — then it’s live.
Somebody inserts a column eventually. Reading the header row on the day rather than trusting a remembered index is what keeps a new column from shifting values into the wrong cells.
All corrected cells go back in a single write scoped to the row that fired. Nothing is appended, so a row number quoted in a thread still points at the same record afterwards.
It re-reads the row before judging anything, so a half typed address that got finished in the meantime is assessed in its finished state. If a person edits the same row during the write itself, the sheet's version history shows both edits and the later one stands, exactly as it would with two colleagues typing.
Free to start. Guided setup, a test run against staged conversations, and it's live.
