Jira Ticket Triage Agent with Claude Code

Triaging an issue properly is an ordered job: search the project for the same symptom, then label, then assign, then write one comment asking only for what is absent. Claude Code gathers before it writes, which is the difference between a linked duplicate and a second parallel investigation nobody reconciles. The whole sequence happens in one run instead of commenting first and looking later.

Watch it work before it's live

Run a staged conversation — no account needed. The agent handles it for real while a simulated world answers its tool calls; nothing touches real accounts, and nothing is actually sent.

Checkout returns 500 when a cart has more than 40 line items

TO DO

Reporter: Hyun-woo Park

Reproduced on staging 3.14.2 and twice in production this morning. Add 41 items to a cart, press Pay, and the call to /orders/confirm returns 500 and the cart is emptied. Forty items is fine. Both production hits were wholesale accounts, one of them Kettleby Foods. The trace points at the tax line splitter.

Set up in minutes

Using this template drops you into a guided setup. It asks exactly this, nothing else:

  1. Connect Jira

One sign-in. The agent acts through your account, scoped to what this template uses.

  2. Connect Slack

One sign-in. The agent acts through your account, scoped to what this template uses.

  3. Triage guide

Your triage rules - the labels and components you actually use, what each one means, what counts as critical, and the repro details you always end up asking for. The agent labels and routes only from this.

  4. Team map

Who owns what - each area or component and the Jira user it should be assigned to, plus what you want done when an issue fits no area at all.

  5. Runs on Claude Code

  6. Watch it handle a test run

Why Claude Code for this agent

Search before it comments

The JQL pass across open and recently closed issues runs before a single word is written, so a re-report links back to the original key.

Asks for what is absent

Naming the missing version, environment or steps takes reading the report closely. The alternative is pasting the same checklist at every reporter until they stop filing.

Before you fork

Will the duplicate search actually catch duplicates?

It catches the ones that share wording with an existing issue, which covers most re-reports and misses a duplicate described in completely different terms. When it does find one it links the key in its comment rather than closing anything, so a wrong match costs a click. A missed one leaves you exactly where you are today.
