Before you fork

Our columns have custom names and our own labels. Does that break it?

That is the normal case. Name your columns and the labels they accept inside your board rules, and the agent loads the live board before writing anything so it works from real titles. If a rule asks for a label the column does not offer, it leaves the cell alone and says so in the update rather than forcing a value.

Boards fire events for every little change. What does that cost?

The first thing each run does is establish whether this is a newly created item. Events on items already filled in end there, cheaply, so your bill tracks how many rows you add rather than how much your team clicks around the board.

What is it able to change, and what is permanently off limits?

It writes only the columns you name in your rules and posts item updates. It never moves an item to another board, never deletes anything, and never edits a column you did not list, so the worst outcome is one status you correct in a click. The rehearsal runs let you watch its calls on staged rows before it touches the live board.
